Work in the Times of Covid Part 3

Just days before the lockdown a group of us participate in an exhibition at the Hove museum, we were all excited about it, but unfortunately 2 days later everything was closed; so that frustration plus the one of not having a final year show, start playing in my mind ways to exhibit my work. I always though about he benefits to the public, of having an exhibition directed to the general public and not to the public that chooses to go to a gallery to see art. To the public who cannot afford to go or are not even interested in art on their normal lives.

So, I started thinking on how, and imagined different scenarios, been one of them an art street exhibition, I was going to contact neighbours and ask if I can hang up work on their front house fences. Then I started thinking about logistics and practicalities, and problems like the birds poos if I leave work through the night and rain, thinking that will have to choose a better time of the year when didn’t rain much. But still wanted to put my work out there so decided to put it in my front windows, finding it a great thing to do. Having a group of shops at the end of the rd.  did  help a lot cause there is always people passing by the house , and the most amazing thing is that the children are the ones who spotted the paints before than anyone , I kept hearing look mum , look dad, and it make me really happy  to see that normal people and children that maybe they will never go to a museum or gallery are being expose to art and enjoy it , my neighbours were delighted and encouraged me to put more work on them. —Ursula Vargas
